Literature Text

there's definitely a you
and there's certainly a me
but there will never be an us,
no matter how many dandelions i obliterate
or how many shooting stars you knock from the sky,
we were not, nor will we ever be, meant for each other.

[the alphabet didn't put u and i together for a reason.]

we're like cigarettes and gasoline;
we're fine on our own
but we should never, ever touch
because the blast would scorch everyone,
including the starter and accellerant.

[especially the starter and accelerant.]

your arm always just stopped short of my wrist,
so you always had to bend to hold hands
and even though i walk on my toes like your little ballerina
i could never quite get our fingers to intertwine carelessly.
but my lips were made for yours wasn't fate;
it was a careless factory worker hurrying with his snowflakes
because no lips are ever alike, not even for another's.

[your mistake was thinking fate had anything to do with you and i.]

if we were romeo and juliet,
i would still have ended up with paris
because i wasn't really juliet, i was just julie,
with the t hidden somewhere in that church you said was our destiny,
but was really just my final resting place
there's some ming for you
since you believe so much in fate.

[you know, ming means destiny, but it also means death.]

so don't, don't, beg me to be your cigarette,
your addiction, your arsonist.
because i can't, can't, get burned again
i won't ignite $4.59 a gallon like it's going out of style
just because you beg me with your eyes
please, please, just a spark, one little ember
because i'm not setting the world ablaze just for you.

[do it yourself if you're so desperate.]
if you need me so much, why do you keep putting me out like a dying star?

full title: where there's smoke, there's fire.

lolspammingyourinboxesagain.
yeah, i really do walk on my toes :]
it's called walking digigrade, and i've been doing it ever since i could walk.
it's a sub-concious thing.
nope, my name isn't julie XF
though one time i told a creepy old stranger it was.
ahwellalittlewhitelieneverhurtanyone.

no idea what to say about this.
i guess a little bit of this was inspired by a famous pick-up line...
"if i could rearrange the alphabet, i'd put u and i together."
never works, does it?

<edit>

just watching Myth Busters, and the moustached one says, "they say where there's smoke, there's fire.
intriguing XD

Great writing, love the lines in between the stanzas. They break it up just the right way. :meow:
